National Museum of Architecture

A visual identity for the National Museum of Architecture in Prague, Czech Republic (Conceptual Project). 

Architecture plays a huge part in Prague’s culture and heritage. With such a diverse array of buildings found in the capital city and represented by the NMA, it was important to create a visual identity that did not confine the brand to a specific era. At the same time, The NMA has a broad target audience, with a wide targeted age range. For the brand to maintain this versatile identity, it was important for the key visual characteristics to be tastefully considered and un-disruptive to any featured content. 

All photography (excluding mock-ups) and designs have been created by myself (Henry White) as part of a coursework project set by Loughborough University: Graphic Communication and Illustration.





The NMA logo has been created with simplicity in mind, consciously designed to avoid falling into any temperamental design trends and to clearly represent the museum as an established and respected organisation.

Prague's nickname, the "City of a Hundred Spires" is based on a count by 19th century mathematician Bernard Bolzano; today's count is estimated by Prague Information Service at 500. I decided to incorporate the capital's famous architectural characteristic within my logo for the museum.




High quality merchandise will be crafted specifically for the museum, and will be sold as premium collectable products within the NMA Gift Shop.  Monthly limited edition posters will be released by the museum, with new designers being invited each month to interpret an era of architecture in their graphical style. An initial, more permanent poster has been created with influence from the Bauhaus movement.
