I once heard someone say that the best authors write as though their work is a love letter written for you or that you've intercepted a love letter meant for someone else. HOME is a letter addressed to myself that intends to address the collision of my childhood with my present self. You, the reader, are the interceptor, and I hope that in reading this you can understand my home or can draw parallels between your home and mine. In the words of the release-note, "It's something that's me, but not so me that it's not you too."
I started this project with little direction other than wanting to create a self-directed project. As I browsed through images and wrote what was on my mind, I began to see the theme of home shine through my words. Each spread is an amalgamation of my photography (digital and film) and poetry written specifically for this project. I manipulated the images, hand-written text, and fonts by using a combination of Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom and then compiling the spreads in InDesign.
