Exploration of Form and Composition
This project is based on exploration of form and composition. I have decided that I wanted to create a series of patterns using digital art, to do this I have used a printer to create distorted images. My artwork derives from elements of art making: line, colour and composition. This book presents a fresh insight into the importance of form distortion and composition. The reason for this is to visually communicate new forms and compositions in a larger scale. My inspiration originated from Josef Albers - ‘Study for Homage to the Square’ due to the range of compositions. He produced hundreds of variations on the basic compositional scheme of three or four squares set inside each other. My work does not consist of three or four squares but focuses on how composition can create unusual imagery using one image. In proportion and placement these images throughout single themselves, connect and separate in different ways.
