NOISILY FESTIVAL 2018
Earlier this year I was accepted to produce a mural at Noisily Festival. The design draws inspiration from ancient Egyptian Cat deities - the Goddesses Sekhmet & Bastet. It's a dark psychedelic piece which imbues the curious and alluring duality of the feline spirit – which is at once both playful and deviant, healing and harmful, receptive and aggressive, soft and sharp. In her violent aspect (SEKHMET) the feline deity is a fierce warrior, in her nurturing aspect a protective mother (BASTET). Just as the Sun coexists with the Moon, the felines' cruel aspect is accepted as part of the natural order, balanced by benevolence. The piece is a reflection of the symbiotic relationship between light and dark forces, it is a place where cruelty and kindness coalesce.
The mural was created live during the festival which took place 5-8th July 2018.
