I have put together an amazing presentation together to talk about one of the most celebrated designers in the history of fashion. Yves Saint Laurent. (Eeevs Sayn Laaron) He was fearless and a true legend. He was nothing less than a revolution. We’re goanna make sure that you guys feel the same way about him by the end of this presentation.
He was born in the year 1936 in Algeria. He didn’t have a great school life, everyone bullied him for appearing to be homosexual. When he was young he made intricate paper dolls and then went on to make clothes for his mother and sisters. We’ll talk more about this in the next slide. He made such good dresses that he participated in a competition in Paris and won 3rd place. So, his mother took him to Paris for the first time to collect his prize. And then with his father’s help, YSL met the then editor of french vogue, Michael de brunhoff. Michael loved YSL and insisted him to finish schooling and then move to paris to take it up as a career.
But this was huge. This le smoking jacket was huge that we could make an entire presentation just out of this. Broke a lot of stereotypes. Fashion was democratised. Gender equality was brought to its social light. It created such a big uproar that women wearing this were barred from entering certain places. You guys have to watch this video.
