The project is in response to the I.S.T.D. brief “mark my words”.
The word I have chosen to look at is “personality”. Its roots trace
back to the Etruscan word “Phersu”, meaning mask. I found this
interesting as it opens up questions about the nature of personality.
Is personality our innate character or a mask we wear?
To try and look at this question more closely, I decided to frame
the project as if it was a conversation between a psychiatrist and
patient. Focusing on the idea of living life as if it were a performance.
Next looking at how much of our personality is pre programmed
by referencing Carls Jung's theory of the collective unconscious
and finally looking at the different archetypes that reside in the
collective unconscious.
