Flying has always intrigued me since i was a child- i mean... who wouldn´t love it to simply spread the wings and hover in the air to see more than we can normally see from the ground. So when drone technology became accessible for people without huge budgets and expertice in technology, i was of course sold and had to get one. 

In my case the first was the DJI Phantom 4 Pro which i still use. Nowadays i always try to check out how my favorite spots look from above- sometimes i know it will look good from the start, but sometimes i´m also really surprised about how effectively a rather boring landscape can be shown by simply elevating the field of view. The grand view, the rather silent detail and the total abstraction to nothing but forms and shapes is fascinating to me.

Here you see the first part of a little collection of aerial panoramic work taken at the gorgeous Lofoten islands in Norway, the Faroe islands, my home region Rheinland in Germany and the little island Orust in Sweden.

Especially in my home region in Germany i love how i can let these places look way more interesting than from ground level. Many times i have walked past these places with my dog, wondering how i can best showcase them. A simple rise of height of around 60meters made everything look more photogenic already. Of course waiting for some interesting light is always a good idea.

I still haven´t found time to process more images from this short trip to Orust in Sweden- but this might be my favourite image anyways. From the road it was not possible to spot how interesting this beach looks, but i somehow had the feeling it might be interesting. I was very surprised to see this great variation of forms and shapes once i was looking straight down on it from around 90m height.
