Knit a trio of emergency vehicles for playtime fun: a fire engine, ambulance and police car.  Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, each vehicle is knitted in garter stitch in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).  The light bars and ladders on top of the vehicles are i-cord tubes worked on two DPNs. For this pattern you will need to be comfortable with short row shaping (i.e. turning the work in the middle of a row).

A pair each of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 4).

Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour.

Tapestry needle, toy filling, and buttons to decorate.

One size only - the ambulance is 17cm long, fire engine 19cm long, and police car 14cm long.

For intermediate knitters and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and seaming plus embroidery decoration to finish.
