This tourist guide showcases some of the most ‘Melbourne’ places in the charming regional town of Ballarat – the most urban, sophisticated, unique, trendy bars, cafes and restaurants that you would expect to find in a metropolis. It targets a youthful audience with a witty and often cynical tone, and utilises bold design to attract the Melbourne-minded.
Exploring some of the most buzzing hotspots in Ballarat was a task not taken lightly. I visited, tested, and photographed some of the most trendy and atmospheric bars and cafes, and used the strongest images within this A5 booklet, designed in Adobe InDesign. Much of the design style was influenced by the signage in and around these locations, with bold reds and blacks being a theme.
