Most Expensive Hotel Projects in Vegas
Prior to his role as a vice president at Hedrick Brothers Construction, accomplished project manager Brian Vanderburgh oversaw the construction of several high-profile commercial properties located on the Vegas Strip. During his tenure as a project manager for Wynn Design & Development, Brian Vanderburgh managed the completion of construction projects for the Wynn and Encore Hotels totaling over 3.2 billion.

Currently, the title of the most expensive hotel on the Vegas strip belongs to the $4.16 billion Cosmopolitan Hotel. Before its construction in 2010, that record was held by Wynn Las Vegas, which had a final cost of $3.6 billion when adjusted for inflation. The two hotels are respectively the 3rd and 4th most expensive hotel construction projects in the world.

When the Wynn Vegas broke ground in 2003, it was the most expensive private construction project ever undertaken in the US. Plans for the hotel were unveiled two years earlier by founder Steve Wynn. For the building site, Wynn purchased and demolished the Desert Inn Hotel, and construction began shortly after.

The 2,716 room Wynn Hotel includes a convention center and casino, together totaling an area of almost 5.2 million square feet. One year after the hotel’s opening, construction began on the adjacent sister structure, the $3.1 billion Encore Hotel. Combined, the Wynn and the Encore are the 7th largest hotel in the world.
