This series of portraits of authors was taken in my 'outdoor studio'  at the Edinburgh Book Festival. I am to a large extent at the mercy of the inclement weather, susch is the nature of the Scottish Summer. The haphazard nature of bothy the setting and weather enables me to acheive results that would be hard to acheive in a studio situation, particulalrly given the time scales I work to. I have very firm views about portraiture and am somewhat bemused by people exhibiting building as examples of portraiture. Stuff and nonsense. Portraitures are all about humanity, expression. I've yet to see a building laugh!
