The Project
In the lead up to World Homeless Day on 10 October 2016, the 'Our City, My Story' creative project was developed to bring to life the stories experienced by Hong Kong's homeless community. Over the course of 8 months, a team of 3 friends participated in numerous hand-out programs to build relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness and encourage them to share their photos of their daily lives using disposable cameras. These photos were then developed and showcased online alongside personal interviews and shared with local and regional media publications.
The purpose of the project was to not only raise awareness, but collectively raise empathy and offer the homeless community a voice to show that their experiences are anything but one-dimensional.
