Reborn Planet—Interactive Multimedia Installation

Project description
The design came from the universe. We set up six little globes around the big one like planets orbiting. Each globe was made of transparent plastic and hanging in the air with fish tape. There were breathing lights of green and blue inside the small globes and the lights were linked with vibration sensors and Arduino.

The small globes were all connected with the big globe in the middle and the electric wires were adhered to the ceiling. The table which supported the big globe was covered by fabrics and we decorated as a mountain with brook on it. The small globes were added green and blue materials inside and they could give out the feelings of water and trees. Also, the big globe was the symbol of the earth. The interaction was like that six when audience touch the small globes, the vibration sensor could sense the move and input the signal to Arduino. And then the Arduino would spread the signal to Max and output the signal to the breathing lights. And the big globe at the middle would turn into highlight from dark. Also, the small globes would shine too. It meant that people contribute their energy to the planet and the planet was reborn again. Our project was designed to show in a dark environment and the ceiling was decorated by starry curtain so that the audience would feel like they were in the universe.
