  Block making
The work table of a block maker at the Anokhi museum. The motifs are first drawn and then hand carved onto wood. Each pattern has 3-4 blocks. All blocks in the image above are part of the same pattern. These are block printed onto fabric.
 The background block (called a gudh) is printed first, followed by an outline block (the rekh). The datta are the filler blocks which complete the design.
It takes one or two days to carve and prepare a single block.

Bagru - Indigo dyeing
Bagru is home to a clan called " Chhipa " which means 'to print' in Gujrati and 'to dye and bask in the sun' in Nepalese.

Made from the plant, Indigofera tinctoria, Indigo is stored in dye vats 10 to 12 feet deep.
