After my bachelor I got involved in a new start up that focussed on the development of inflatable tents with a technology that already was being used in the kite surf industry. With the help of inflatable air bladders inside a stiff textile socket, it is possible to create very stiff tube structures, that are able to be used for various applications, such as tents etc.

Currently there are two realized designs, that are based on previous student research and market demand. I have been responsible for the creation of the final design of both models, which included everything from it's shapes, dimensions, technical drawing and final renderings. Prototyping was done in close collaboration with the lead designer of Peter Lynn Kites.
Prototyping

Together with a textile factory abroad we made several prototype iterations. Working with textile is difficult since it is hard to predict its behavior when modeling the tents.
Because of the modular construction the possibilities to adjust or expand your Cross tents are endless. The base package, which contains the in atable frame and canopy, can easily be extended to make the Cross tent even more suitable for your event.
All Cross tents can be fitted with side walls (with access door or window) and canopies. Using the handy ‘CrossOver’ connection panels all Cross tents can be connected with each other, as long as they have the same shape (i.e. X3, X4 or X5).
By using a unique in ation system the Cross tent will be ready for use in a matter of minutes. The whole tent can be in ated through just one in ation valve. No heavy materials and no noisy permanent fan either. Once the Cross tent is set up it needs no looking after, it is there to stay!
