Disappearing Portraits

Probably the first serious body of my work started in 2009 when I decided to document a journey in a van and traveled for 2 months during which I immersed myself in the world of "Ashayer"- tribes- in North-East of Iran. I photographed their daily routines, following the migration of cattle and witnessing the different religious practices of different ethic groups. I was able to capture the soul of the ephemeral villages I visited as well as the people that inhabited them. This is the selection of portraits of tribe women and girls who plays the critical role in building community and bringing the members of family together, the culture that is on the brink of disappearance.
