Handmade Pennies Typeface

TYPOPHILIA LONDON – DESIGN MUSEUM – CULTURE & HERITAGE

Handcraft, typography & print

This was a personal project exploring the British penny to create a handmade typeface.

To maintain consistency of the ascenders, descenders and counters of the letters, a grid was created. This grid was then followed to create the typeface.

Dull pennies and shinny pennies were separated to create visual clarity and legibility.
