This comic book cover reminds me of many such comics I read as a teenager, using the monochrome image in the sky to represent a heavenly presence which is what I am trying to achieve with panel 3 and the Jesus of tomorrow.
This is Lichtenstein's portrayal of Bobby Kennedy, Catholic, Irish descent, on the front cover of Time magazine shortly before his assassination. In my interpretation of this image for Jesus-past I have lengthened the hair line and strengthened the jaw line to be more reminiscent of Jesus and Superman.
Here the final Kennedy image has been transferred on to the Mother Teresa tea towel which has been trimmed to show a little gold around the edges in an attempt to create a mock Turin shroud.
Here Jesus-today is composed on 2,240 x 1.1cm photographs of 20 people past and present to create a photomask of Jesus by da Vinci.
Oscar Isaac as Jesus-future in a pastel and chalk sky on black charcoal paper
The final piece, borders in red ribbon an brass curtain hinges enhancing the overall icon effect.
An attempt at a medieval Jesus later discarded  but a useful drawing exercise.
The reverse sides painted in gold. For some unknown reason I cannot rotate this to show it upright...
I added this label on panel 3 to show that the story is not yet over and Jesus future is yet to come.
The original Jesus image for the central panel, notice that in the final mosaic the glass orb in not visible which slightly detracts from the final work.
