Double-sided Poster Explaining Research on the Learning Environment
Vizerektorat Lehre und Entwicklung, Universität Basel (ITSI), 2014
What influence do new media and study structures have on the learning environment? What does this mean for campus planning? The Education Technologies department of the University of Basel addressed these questions in its ITSI (IT Service Integration in Studies and Teaching) project. Superdot developed a poster as a summary of the most important findings and designed the final book for publishing.
Based on the study, it became clear that there are always two aspects to campus design. For example, students should be able to use virtual offers flexibly both on and off campus, but on the other hand, they also need a place of reference to enable focused learning. The overarching concepts were summarised under the terms ‘Lernwandern’ (roaming-learning), and ‘ganzen Lernen’ (holistic learning).
Superdot illustrated these two concepts with a two-sided A2 poster. The most important findings and quotes from the studies were compiled and structured into various topics. The different learning trails unfold on the front and back in contrasting Pantone colours 'Warm Red' and 'Violet'. Whether a quote comes from students or lecturers, whether it is a theory or a fact, is indicated by a small character above the text.
