Poly Pirates is a 2D pirate game concept/visual asset creation project. This is the process of the project showing how I finalized the digital assets.
The commissioned project includes the visualization of water, different levels of ships for the player, different NPC types and their levels, various small and big islands, different levels of NPC towers.
A JOURNEY IN THE BLUE
Some initial models & renderings during the commissioned project. The aim is to discover the possibilities of ships within a low-poly style game.
For this reason the concepts start very basic and continues with more and more detailed, differentiated examples.
Player level is mentioned through color and sail icon.
As the player level increases, the colors get more prestigious while the icons gain more complexity.
NPC Ships are designed to be easily scaleable in terms of level. The color scheme of the NPC ships are chosen to relate best to their types.The icons represent their specialty. Merchantile, Aggressive & Defensive NPC in order.
These towers are the defense units for guarding various treasures. They come in 3 levels as well.
The islands are designed from a generic base in order to fasten the production and easily have a common visual language. The islands are mostly cosmetic environment elements.
