E-Learning Portal - 8x8 Academy
While my primary position at 8x8, Inc. had me regularly working with video assets and motion graphics for their online learning library, I also contributed planning, writing, and graphics creation for the launch of their redeveloped, proprietary e-learning portal, branded as the 8x8 Academy. The page is based in WordPress with custom CSS styles which match the 8x8 rebranded style guide.
The 8x8 Academy is geared towards the goal of elevating customer adoption of tools and products offered in the space of unified-communications-as-a-service, and delivers a host of learning channels to existing users which are designed to cater to multiple education environments - self-paced, course-based yet indexed for easy reference, and interactive for checks on comprehension and mastery of content. That's a fancy way of saying we built a robust education platform for our users to quickly get up to speed using our communications products.
As a multimedia designer I was heavily involved in initial planning, from wireframing to mockup iteration. After the planning stage, I carried the site through content production, making aesthetic decisions in-line with current design standards for the 8x8 site at-large. In-hand with the site design came the creation of several embedded videos which introduced the new page and oriented users on its operation.
For the capture of software screenshots, I created a full library of mock-users to populate our fake company network. To make it realistic I filled out user profiles with pictures, job titles, and researched a diverse cast of names and surnames based on a variety of regions - a service made for global communications needs to reflect a global approach!
After my departure from 8x8, the 8x8 Academy has seen some visual tweaks, but the layout, wireframe, and video content remain the same.
