Create a how-to-guide.
This how-to-guide is a not-so-how-to-guide as it is a ‘guide’ to being a flâneuse. A flâneuse is the feminine form of the more commonly known flâneur.
Rather than wandering aimlessly, like her male counterpart, the female flâneuse has an element of transgression: she goes where she’s not supposed to. Out of boredom, a flâneuse may begin secretly following people in the street -whom are chosen arbitrarily.
The concept of the flâneuse is portrayed in this accordion-folded-semi-translucent-editorial and journal. The editorial part of
the project acts as a flâneuse in the sense that it abides by the law of chance, not telling the reader what to do but creating
the experience of a flâneuse through its pages. From a "handy map," created out of multiple maps therefore making
it impossible to decipher, thus enabling the reader to choose their own path at random, to questions that an aspiring
flâneuse is often asked- are you sure you’re comfortable going so far? Why not take an Uber?
The flâneuse walks to think, to write, to map, to find belonging, to lose themselves, to invite and protest another person’s gaze.
