San Pietro Infine - The Place and Memory - international competiton - honourable mention
Main goal of our project was to leave the city as a relict of history of the II W.W. but at the same time - to restore an old form of the city. We were asking ourselves, how is it possible to restore the city without any wider documentation of the place in previous form? The idea of our project is to create a city, which will be visible only at night. Something like a ghost town, that appears in a specific period of time. Main goal is to restore whole city by lights. We wanted to achieve this by using a luminescence fiber optics cables, put as a substitute for old facades of the buildings. At the beggining, we arrange the wild greenery it the area like savage bushes and grass. But we want to preserve the main part of valuable greenery. In the next step, we want to renovate and conserve paths and all the ruins of the buildings. Then, we erect the lightweight frame construction which will be base and cover for electric installations. Finally, we add fiber optics. The form, will be invisible in the day, not to interfere in the current form. All fiber optic system would be powered by solar, photovoltaic panels. The biggest advantage of the idea is that we can use it in every situation and in every building by adding less or more light system. The others advantaged are the cost – much less than in typical renovation and time – construction would take less time. It will become a unique tourist attraction at world scale.
