Queer Pride Guwahati 2018 & 2019
March for rights: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual persons and plus.
Thanks to Pragati Kalita and Aryan Agrawal, and of course, to the queer community of Assam, this was a milestone for me. I was approached to make the poster for 2018's Queer Pride event in Guwahati and it was almost a momentary decision to get down to the grind of making it. The response i got from people and the community thereafter was nothing less than overwhelming.
I don't think i have gotten such city-wide recognition from any other project. As a result of its success, I made the 2019 poster as well.
2018 Queer Pride
Drafts one to three: a journey into getting a deeper understanding on queerness, and what queer pride is, politically as well as culturally. I moved from using the word 'colour' to 'pride' depicting what it means to believe in it as a way of love and taking pride in it as well as to avoid confusion on connotations of racism reflected in the phrase 'people proud of our colour'.
2019 Queer Pride
This was also the year when Section 377 of the IPC act which criminalised homosexuality in India was overturned, hence, the use of the Indian flag and Pride flag colours as mutual wings for flight.
