finding beauty in reinvented waste
Exploring the beauty within trash provides an envisioning potential for such material by embracing its imperfections. The main crisis in Egypt is plastic wastes either thrown plastics, or faulted plastics from industries. They tend to grow in an inconsiderable amount, thus leading to landfills in every corner. Currently, plastic waste is found not only in less privilege places but also beside well-known venues like malls, and even restaurants. Trash is our everyday occupant; it’s our best friend wherever we go we see it, in the streets, even in our homes. Plastics have a short life spam when used however they can stay un-degradable for over 60 years from it’s production, for example the average time for a plastic bottle to fully degrade is at least 450 years. As for the biodegradable plastics it does indeed break down into smaller pieces of plastic however the polymer itself may not fully degrade in a short time frame. Why not convert this imperfection to a positive attribute to the environment we live in? This project was homemade from wasted plastic bags. By using the beech wood I have provided a more environmental friendly aspect to the product.
These samples are made from either plastic bags or from HDPE plastic. These samples helped in the process of adding the needed material into keyshot for visual refrences.
Three simple steps that produce the final outcome for the base of the furniture. Cut, heat, and compress are the main building bricks of this project.
