The Apostles

For this project, I set out to create an icon set that could be used to organize addresses that were given by the current (as of May 2018) LDS Quorum of 12 Apostles. The final designs of each icon underwent multiple phases, including sketching, peer reviews, and testing.

Sketches
I went to lds.org and pulled up a photo of each of the twelve members, and began to do sketches. In these sketches, I wanted to play with a different visual style each time, as well as start to get an idea of how I was going to create the caricature of each Apostle.
Initial Peer Review
The initial peer review provided me with some useful insight. It was suggested that I needed to look at the silhouettes of the icons. With having a huge circle to frame each one, the silhouette becomes flat and boring. As a result, I decided that I wasn't going to use them.
The Digital Draft
The digital draft was rather well received by peer and those that the icon set was tested on. Some of the feedback was that I needed to add more elements that would be in shadow, as well as fix the nose piece of glasses to be more realistic.
The Final Icon Set
As suggested from the last draft version, I added a few more shadowed elements, fixed the glasses, and I even went back and made a change to the strokes in the first icon's hair, because I felt that it was too complex in comparison with the other 11.
