The Discovery Of The Unknown

The Discovery Of The Unknown
OBJECTIVE
Develop a method to translate an unknown poem into a possible strategy for a design, an art or even a craft. As a result, the final deliverable came out as a visual system for a photography exhibition at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

APPROACH
Within creative realms, translation is a vital and exciting process. In most cases, translation involves taking a given text in one language and translate it to another. How you an unrecognizable media be translated strictly through the emotions it evolves? The approach was based on the aspects of the letterforms that most intrigued me. I developed a concept of infinity as the idea of something with no end through joining the letterforms together.

ORIGINAL POEM
EARLY SKETCHES
FIRST PHOTOGRAPHY EXPLORATION
Inspired by the concept of infinity, endless lines and shapes I started observing and photograph patterns and repetitive forms in our daily lives creating an illusion of continuity and endless.
TRANSLATED POEM
3D Concept Exploration
SECOND PHOTOGRAPHY EXPLORATION
The Endless Exhibition
After receiving the English translation of the poem and the last round of explorations I decided my deliverable that is a visual identity for an exhibition at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art – SFMOMA. From my concept of infinity and endless repetition found in nature and in contrast with human creations, I come up with a free exhibition called The Endless Exhibition, where visitors will experience the rhythm present in nature x human-made endless patterns.
