We spent a semester in Textiles focusing on a project called "Designing Traditions." In partnership with the RISD Museum, Textiles students develped work over 6 weeks inspired by Asian costume and textiles selected by the Museum curators. Students chose one object to use as inspiration for their work.
My piece was a velvet fragment of fabric that had an iridesence to it. The patterns on the fabric added the look beetles and their patterning. This became my inspiration for this dress and the work I created during this semester.
