This project was centered around making cooking easier for the user, originally looked at a tool with multiple interchangeable handles. This then developed into looking at cooking for specific tasks. As there was a handle as well as the utensils, I focused on making the handle as ergonomic as possible, this was due to user research showing me that handles can be un - comfy or difficult to grip with one continuous shape.

Working alongside users to test the handle, I began to form a handle that was shaped by grip, where we grip this handle was essential to know where to curve the shape. It also aided the design process when it came to applying a rubber section to the handle, to prevent slipping when the user is interacting with the product.

The two components are connected via a locking system which are then released by buttons either side at the top of the handle, by using buttons it eliminates the need for the user to touch the dirty utensil after use.

The utensil shown here is a double ended spatula which is designed to prevent food falling from the spatula whilst it is being flipped. Perfect for food like burgers or bacon, which can fall and curl up when flipped and landed the wrong way.

Another utensil attachment included an egg flipper, for the same reasons as above, it wont allow the egg to slip out the product and even includes drainage holes for oil. Other utensils I would like to work on to add to the collection are whisks, a lasagna slice, all in one pizza cutter and slicer. Possibly even a range for people with disabilities or unstable hands.
