This season Patterns of Play have teamed up with Norwich City FC to provide the matchday programme covers for their home fixtures with each game featuring artwork by a different artist offering their own unique take on the club, this is where I come in.
In years gone by, City's programmes have showcased an array of design layouts, ranging from bold and colourful graphics to clean and simple photography. When you look back over the archive, one thing that immediately jumps out from a design perspective is the use of distinctive typography to create the mastheads on each of the different covers. These retro typefaces are the inspiration behind my submission.
As a student from the Norwich University of the Arts, I also spent time working for Delia's Canary Catering at Carrow Road while studying. Recreating my favourite Norwich City programme typefaces, I took up the task to digitally redrawn each letter and set in position to read out lyrics from oldest chant in world football, 'On The Ball, City'.
