OVERVIEW
Makita is a well known power tool manufacturer from Japan. This project explores the process of designing a stick mixer for Makita.
The main focus of this design was taking key elements of Makita; colour, design language etc. and slightly tone it back to blend into a kitchen environment. Features such as the trigger, form and colours create the connection between existing power tools designed by Makita.
One key element of the design is the power cord. Typically power cords on electric stick mixers run over the back of the hand, dangle off the bench and then up to the power point. This design shoots the power cord over the mixing bowl towards the power point. This creates a functional and safe space to use the stick mixer.
