The Creation of God

THE CREATION OF GOD

And the man said "let there be God". And there was God.

This digital render is inspired by the work of Michelangelo Buonarroti "The Creation of Adam" (Creazione di Adamo), where the master painted God in the act of creating the first man.

I decided to draw a modern version and interpretation of it into an artwork that wants to show a different and more contemporary point of view in each and every detail.

A man sits on the left, where Adam is in the original painting. A female character is on the right, taking the place that once belonged to God. A symbolic choice to tribute all women for the important role they play in our society, in spite of the one many religions give them.

God is represented by a Pyramid, a volumetric 3D shape very close to the triangle, that as a symbol often refers to God. It shines and its light is amplified by an external source, to underline how simple it is to emphasise and make something look "more" than what is in reality.

But the creation of God is just an artistic lie. Everything is supported by wires, invisible only to the eyes of a poet but indeniably there. All around is just an empty, dirt, desolated space.

We are visitors in a museum, invited to stand still and effortlessly contemplate an act we are not part of.

...

But in a corner up there, in the shadow, we are given a sign. There's a way out from all this. Will you have the courage to step up and move forward or will the beauty of a lie catch your breath and your heart?
