These books are similar to the projects in the previous albums with the difference that the layouts had to be created using sketches, also known as pencil art, from the licensors because the movie wasn’t finalized. For this reason, these projects were designed and created with a shorter time frame than the rest once we had received the final art.

In retelling the magical adventure of Miguel, the art direction for this project was to develop and create 5 fun spread layouts and icons with art from the movie, as well as selecting the elements to be covered in foil which will shine with the use of the included flashlight.
Being from Mexico and knowing the Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) traditions was very helpful in developing this book which I designed to resemble the crafty art pieces used to decorate the ofrendas (offerings) during the festivities.
