VRV Gallery 2018
Around November 2017 I started thinking about how VRV should be represented in the 2018 convention season. It would have been easy to just get an activation booth, play some videos and hand out some postcards - but instead, I wanted to try and push a more experiential idea. If VRV was a real place, what would that place look like? VRV is very collaborative in nature, it caters to niche tastes, and with all the different types of shows, there's a wide range of creativity.

I thought an art installation would be a great way to showcase these traits. I commissioned 3D fabrications of the VRV logo, which artists were commissioned to illustrate on, a 3ft Catbug statue to project video on, some giant 6ft Logos which people at the shows could doodle over and leave us messages, and we had artists commissioned to make posters of what their interpretation of VRV was.

The Gallery debuted at C2E2 in April 2018 at saw over 22,000 people visit, all with positive feedback.
I also wanted to record this achievement, as it was a big achievement for VRV. We got in touch with a local production firm and flew them out to document the debut of the gallery.
As the year has progressed, the Gallery has been refined and evolved, along with its mission. We aimed to make a physical representation of what VRV is, and that is a place for independent creators. Next year our goal is to showcase this even more, by working with the community.
