Objectives
The vice-leader market brand of child products, reached us to immerse in the everyday of consumers, analyse their consuming behaviors and design a new line of products and increase their sales.
Together with leaders, we analysed the industry, processes, trends and market needs. Through Tailormade Process we understood the customers behaviors. We identified the need of translating with strategy and multisensorial design a line of products that talk about safety and trust.
Approach
ACDI researches verified the customers needs towards safety and trust, implementing this concept in a end-to-end way, from the shelf to the usage moment with a full line product project.
1.Putting Gestalt (psychology of shapes perception) concepts to use, we made a child product analysis to comprehend how to communicate within the category and also identify the elements which transmits the values desired by the clients.
2.Shapes, products usage behavioral patterns, sensorial insights and market indicators were used as guides to the development of each product within this line.
3.We developed products such as baby bottles, squeezes, baby pacifiers, plates, spoons and sterilizer, in a way that all of those were perceived in the same way.
Baby Bottles
Through the investigation of mothers behavior we identified their needs. Because of that we designed a shape with a curvilinear silhouette ensuring the bottle handling. Enlarging the bottle base, we created an emotional connection by relating motherhood with stability.
The bottle cap made with a negative angle gives continuity between pieces and unity to the shape. The cap, continued the silhouette, and added the important snap fit, to make a "click" when being closed, an sensorial and industrial insight which increases the safety sensation by the sound design.
The click made at closing was of extreme importance, a strategic work of multisensorial design, when the mother hears the sound, it generates an input which ensures that the bottle was indeed closed.
Baby Pacifiers
Our challenge was to increase the value perception without changing the productive process and also keeping the consistency according to the product line strategic alignment: Safety and Trust. Therefore we simulated the double shield injection, working in the shapes and the colors of the pins in a way that the shield color could create an outline that was able to transmit this reinforcement, associating with concepts like protections and care.
Plate and Spoon
The plate and the spoon had anatomic shapes, always thinking about the practicality of feeding a baby, making easier and also reassuring the handling not only for the kid but also to the person who is feeding it.
