Arizona Humane Society Rebranding

Introduction-

In this project we were told to rebrand a current logo for a nonprofit organization. We chose to rebrand for the nonprofit organization named, The Arizona Humane Society. All group members believed that the current logo really needs some work. However, the website we believed was laid out well and got their mission across. The AZ Humane Society has a very strong and good message, in addition it's mission is strong and different from many other Humane Societies but their logo is not original and it is very similar to the rest. The AZ Humane Society's mission is just to have every animal have a good life, and be able to recover from whatever traumatic events they have been through. Their values include innovation, compassion and excellence. We decided as a group to help this great organization with a new and more fitting logo to them. We saw that most humane societies just have a dog and a cat or in other words just the animals shown in their logo. So we decided to include one of the most important parts of a humane society the person looking to adopt. For the AZ Human Society's mission to be achieved in their logo there must be the aspect of a human helping and taking in these animals. To us that is what a humane society is all about people looking to love and help animals and need, and that is what humane societies lack the human aspect of their organizations and how important that aspect is to their mission. Knowing all this how could this not be included in the logo, the face of the organization.
This is the current AZ Humane Society's logo, and we do not think it captures the true nature and mission of the Arizona Humane Society. The color scheme is totally weird and random in our opinion. It has what looks like paint strokes creating a dog a heart and a cat. It also has this sense of separation which we thinks should be the opposite of an organization like a humane society.
Here are some of our sketches for the rebranding.
These are the many drafts we had for our logo. As you can see its looks like the same logo every time but in each one o those logos something is changed and made better.

Creative Process

It took us a while to start creating our logo on illustrator. Ideation took some time with us, but actually figuring out which organization we wanted to do was easy. Our problem was figuring out how to create a new logo for something that already has a logo. We did a lot of research on behance and logo pond and a lot for basic ideas on google. What really got us moving in the right direction was starting our sketches. Having our few ideas on paper really gave us a boost on thinking of our final idea.
Digital Process

We got our main Idea for the logo down very fast, but it was very rough an very general. For next week or two we were figuring ways to clean it up and make any changes for the better. Also for the business assets that was the same way, we got our ideas down early and fast and then took time to change and tweak it to make it look as good as possible.

Conclusion

This was a great project for every member of this design team. It was a new a good challenge to create a logo for a company that already had one. As I said in our introduction we made our decision of adding in the human aspect of a humane society along with the dog and the cat. We think that our logo is more fitting and more professional for the humane society. We think it should be a logo like ours that is the cover of a great non-profit like The Arizona Humane Society.
