The Pixel Art Magazine School Assignment:
The following magazine covers are part of a school assignment in which students were to design a magazine cover for 'Pixel Art', a fictional magazine. My teacher, however, told us to design the magazine cover in any manner we fancied: consequently, I came up with three very different magazines for three different purposes. Please enjoy!
This magazine cover would be the most fitting for that particular assignment. As a reader for design magazines myself, I knew that a cover for such a magazine would have to be highly striking and modern-looking. Personally, I am a big fan of the Bebas typeface (as you will see) and I chose to feature it very strongly in this cover. In terms of colour, the palette I used is not particularly interesting but it stands out very well against a dark background. For the image, I used one of my personal digital artworks as this cover is, after all, meant for a new media magazine.
This cover is noticeably different from the other covers for my assignment as it does not feature a personal artwork of mine. Instead, I used this beautiful picture of Kim Novak (from the Alfred Hitchcock master piece 'Vertigo') and made the magazine cover as feminine and classy as possible.
