"36 Days of Type is a global project that invites Designers, Illustrators and Graphic Artists to express their particular views on letters and numbers of the alphabet.

36 days of restless creativity, where tens of thousands of participants are challenged to design a letter or number for 36 consecutive days in a row."

Doing anything for 36 days in a row is a challenge in and of itself, let alone finding the motivation and creative space to develop 36 unique design concepts in that timeframe. This year, my first year participating, I made it a point to push myself both conceptually and creatively.

My objective with this series was to display as wide an array of design concepts and directions as I could muster. For 36 days, I sat down anywhere from ten minutes to six hours a day, conceptualizing and executing these designs.

What you don't see shown here are the dozens and dozens of concepts per day that did not make the cut.

Overall, I learned a lot about my limitations as a designer. I had to be efficient with my time in order to balance my other various projects. I had to show discernment in order to choose the direction that I thought would provide the most fruitful result. I had to be consistent in order to not miss a single day of the challenge. But most of all, I had to be creative.

At the conclusion of the 36 days, I am very grateful to have had a total of three of my concepts hand selected to be featured by the creators of the project.

Thanks for checking out the project!
