EnviroMass is a magazine concept for sustainable living in Massachusetts. By the fall of 2016, over half of Massachusetts was in extreme drought. Inspired by the effects both that we have on our environment, and that the environment has on us due to these droughts, I designed a magazine that centered around these issues and was targeting a particular type of person that was concerned with climate change, environmental justice, and related values. v
The first spread is a lifestyle spread about blooming tea, a type of floral tea where the leaves unfurl in the water to look like a flower. I used a bright green accent to evoke plant life and emphasize the tonal difference between this spread and the content spreads.
The magazine also features an advertisement. It is a two part L.L.Bean ad created in collaboration with another designer, where we targeted the college aged lovers of flannel and referenced the durability of the material and the style. The first page poses a question, and the second answers it in the form of a photo and the ll bean logo.
I'm a self taught photographer and my favorite things to photograph are landscapes and other subjects in the natural world. For the cover page and title spread I used my own photography that I took on my DSLR and processed and edited in Lightroom. The other photographs in the magazine are sourced from photo sharing sites.
