During her career, Edith Head (1897-1981) received 35 Academy Awards nominations for Costume Design and won the “Oscar” eight times, the most garnered by any woman in the film industry. Her films include Notorious (1946), All About Eve (1950), Sunset Boulevard (1950), Roman Holiday (1953), Rear Window (1954), The Ten Commandments (1956), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), Wives and Lovers (1964), Sweet Charity (1970), Airport (1971), The Sting (1971), Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid (1982), and nearly 1,100 more.
The creative for this exhibition had to live up to the glitz and glamour of Old Hollywood and the Academy Awards. Edith Head's beautiful sketches were the dominant component complimented with brilliant metallic golds to capture the elegance, lavishness and richness of the era in which she dominated.
