The Pitchblack team has created over 15 shopping bag designs for Woolworths. Made by a team of formally unemployed women at the Isikwamo project, almost all of the bags has been made with a social awareness theme to them. From Earth Hour to Barefootball, rhino and water conservation, each bag has a unique story to tell and each raises money and awareness for its cause.

 

The rhino bag helped raise over R700 000 which went towards the purchsing of much needed x-ray equip- ment to help port authorites seize illegal rhino horn shipments and tightening the noose around the numer- ous poaching syndicates operating in Southern Africa. The bag has also featured in various newspapers and even formed the material for a striking dress at the 2012 J&B met.
