Folktales of India - The Lion's Wedding - Animation

Folktales of India - The Lion's Wedding
Folktales of India is an ongoing animation project conceived by Prateek Sethi, where we create and publish animated stories of the various popular folklore and tales from across India. Also, the region specific folk painting style is used to visually bring life to the stories.

As part of my assignment, I selected the tale of the 'Lion's wedding' from the state of Uttar Pradesh, and chose the 'Madhubani' art style to illustrate them.

'The Lion's wedding' is a tale about a gentle lion who dwells in Vrindavan. Please follow the link below for the animated story:
Madhubani/Mithila art is practiced in the Mithila region of India and Nepal. Painting is traditionally done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterised by eye-catching geometrical patterns. This art style is common to both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

I used various digital software to create and animate the characters, illustrations and the background elements. Please find below some frames from the animation:

Also attached below is the storyboard for the animation:
