THE’ K
The project was realized during the competition held by Nutella and Wired Italia for the creation of new way to creatively up-cycle the Nutella jar.
THE’ K was awarded with the 3rd place at the Nutella and Wired competition “Hack The Icon” for the creative up-cycicling of the iconic Nutella Jar.
THE’ K comes from the idea of bringing back the family and sharing dimension typical of Nutella, within the new up-cycling project. The starting point was to ask ourselves what could be done in order to transform the iconic Nutella jar in an object that assumed a new meaning by exploiting the already intrinsic beauty of the jar itself (which many do not realize as rightly focused on the product that It contains), removing it from the anonymity and make it the real protagonist. Hence the idea of the teapot.
The drink inside almost seems to give a new shape to the jar and the color of the liquid it contains makes it stand out, everything through the use of a simple cap/lid that once screwed over, turns the jar into a comfortable teapot or coffee holder.
The form of the lid is inspired by a key spanner(o chiave inglese in Italian) as a new and playful element and as new approach to opening the jar, thus strengthening further the idea of up-cycling.
The project was realized with the collaboration of fellow designer Quixing Zhang.
The name THE’ K is infact a word pun between the english article “THE” and the italian word for tea ” THE’ “, but also the “K” resemble the pronunce of the word “KEY” from which the teapot take its shape.
