The coastline around the North Devon village I live in is as spectacular as anywhere in the world. It’s not the easiest place to walk with the pebble beach, the pebbles can be a small as your little fingernail or so big you can’t lift them. At high tide the sea sends a wave to shore which pushes the pebbles inland, but as soon as the wave recedes they follow back to the sea making a fascinating sound as they roll over each other. You can see Lundy on the horizon, the largest island in the Bristol Channel. It lies 12 miles off the coast.
