Illustrations for the 9th issue of nurant, and independent illustration magazine based in Milan. The theme of the issue was 'improvisation in music'. Since when improvising you have to 'make it up as you go', I decided to illustrate musicians whose way was paved by the sound of their own instruments.
This issue was printed on a silver/glowing/bright paper, which gave the illustrations a really nice touch. If you haven't got the chance to grab one of the magazines in print, the web version is available here

I only found out about Menahan Street Band's album after the illustrations, but it made so much sense I've decided to name the project after it.
