Dance = Communication

Our submission for the 120 hours competition:

This competition is conducted for exactly 120 hours (5 days) made to construct the ideas and deliver them, there were about 2000 entries this year from students all over the world. 

The competition requested a room ideal for physical communication in the digital world, we designed a space for the only physical connection that can not be transferred digitally: DANCING. 

We think that the ideal space for communication is one for dancing, therefore we designed a portable room to be implemented everywhere, anywhere, made from a flexible fabric, as big as performers can move and communicate, ensuring intimacy and partial isolation for full attention between dancers. 

The fabric design was inspired by two themes: Sufi Tanoura dance, where the performer's skirt acts as the medium where he delivers meaning.

and Martha Garaham's Lamentation, who explored the performers body attributes and abilities through a flexible wrap sheet, that expanded and contracted as she expressed herself.
