Version. Brand identity
"In the literary text, each sign may become a major textual functor, whose decoding is indispensable for a proper understanding of the text. When a translation
operation takes place, a large part of individual textemic relations unavoidably shifts. "

Even-Zohar, Itamar 1990. The Textemic Status of Signs in Translation." Polysystem Studies

Version is a network of translators and copywriters that offers language services for translation, revision and correction of texts and transcription of video and audio made to measure and directed by specialised professionals under a strict quality control. It also develops communication and content tools for companies and institutions.

The identity system needed an open and flexible approach to amplify the brand’s scope and connect it to the different services without losing its essence: the word and the signs and notations that are their everyday work tools. In our aim to enhance the brand’s universe, we chose a monospaced classic serif typeface and a “traditional desktop" color palette: black and blue.

To express their dedication to the printed matter, their stationary was hand-printed and carefully silkscreened by Carapau Amarelo in two inks in Fedrigoni's Materica Clay 360g fine paper.

As part of the branding, we were also asked to design their website.

The result is an open identity that reflects the craft of their work at the same time as a sense of newness and contemporarity.
“It is the task of the translator to release in his own language that pure language that is under the spell of another, to liberate the language imprisoned in a work in his re-creation of that work.”

Walter Benjamin, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, 1936
