Shooting an elephant is an essay written by George Orwell based in Burma where British officers occupy Burma’s territory and implement imperialism. Orwell explains that the elephant escaped his captivity while his owner was away. It posed a threat to the humans due to the elephant was lost and frightened. The officer (character from the essay), was full of shame and regretted after shooting the elephant, even though in that moment it might had been the best option to kill the poor creature.

The idea of this project was to represent in different posters 5 climax moments where its seen the struggle of a British man. The moment where a superior force him to kill the elephant, the pressure of using a gun without wanting to do it, the uncomfortable feeling of being surrounded by everyone while having the elephant in front, the fear of being smashed by the animal and the regret and shocking moment while seeing the Elephant bleed and die slowly. The textures, illustrations, blood stains, pictures, ripped paper and background were made with different techniques to make them feel integrated though the image compilation and still make them feel like a whole entire piece.

The design line and colors are meant to be sad and tense. In order to obtain this results were necessary to experiment with different techniques. The background is made of a parchment stylish paper colored with coffee beans and tea bags pouring them on water and spreading them around the paper, the blood stains are a splash of red painting, the textures are taken from a wall paper with that original appearance and the pictures and illustrations were taken and edited with digital softwares.
