Projections of memories in my head haunt me…not because of horrific events that constantly frighten me, but because of the realization that my memories may all be lies; lies that are built upon a falsity of shared stories and detailed visuals that have contorted my perception of personal experience. On September 11, 2001, my family and I lost our home. Being only three years old at the time, I remember clinging to my mother as we all hurried to escape from our apartment in Battery Park City to find safety amongst all of this horror that was occurring all around us…or do I?
