Problem: Create a logo for either myself or a fictitious brand.

Technical Problem:

- Time constraint of about 11 weeks.

Design Problem:

- Using Adobe Illustrator, create a logo that is timeless, attractive, versatile and legible.

Solution:

I decided immediately that I would have a black & white logo for two reasons; 1. Black & white will never go out of style; 2. It's my own logo so I can take the risk if I see fit, adjusting it as I go along.

I chose the name Augustus because that is the Roman root my name is derived from. Keeping with the Roman theme, Augustus is styled in all-caps because the for a long period of time, the Romans went without using a lower-case alphabet. Above, the U (stylized V) sits nested within the other letters, just as it does within the name itself. This represents the need for self-preservation while not sacrificing personal growth.

Results:

I think I may reconsider stylizing the U as a V, because too many people are having a hard time reading the brand. I am willing to let that go for the sake of legibility.
